LUFC Marques training with South African side

Former Leeds United defender Rui Marques is currently training with South African side Super Sport United.

Marques as been without a club since being released by Leeds at the end of last season after five years at Elland Road, where he made 90 appearances.

The Angolan international was a huge fans favourite during his time at Leeds and he was a rock at the heart of the defence as the side went about turning round the fifteen point penalty incurred at the start of the 2007/08 season.

The 33 year old was Leeds longest serving player at the time of his release from the club.

I wish him all the luck, I always like Marques and he was solid at the start of the 2007/08 season. Too many months away with the African nations cups never helped him. Never looked like being part of Graysons plans and hardly got a game last season.

I didnt think he got the breaks from Leeds when things went wrong and always looked a pretty solid no frills CH to me. Could never understand how Michalik got into the side in front of him.

I expected him to stay in England, there was quite a few clubs after him a few years back.

All the best Rui always seemed to be the fall guy if things went wrong
