LUFC McCartney out of Ireland squad

George McCartney has been forced to pull out of the Northern Ireland squad for their midweek friendly with Morocco.

The 29 year old was due to meet up with the squad after Saturday`s game with Bristol City but as pulled out after suffering an ankle injury.

McCartney is into the second month of his loan spell at Elland Road from Sunderland and his form had earned a call up for Wednesday`s friendly at Windsor Park.

The left back has already earned 32 caps for his country after making his debut in 2001.

Lets hope he's alright for Saturday. It will be his last game on Saturday unless we extend the loan again. Get him for the season Grayson.

If Sunderland can beat Chelsea 3-0 they dont need him. Tell Bruce we will drop his son if he takes George back.

I was watching Phil Bardsley for Sunderland in the Chelsea game, McCartney as go no chance of getting in the side at the moment.

Parker must be very close to a return now. He must have completed five or six full games now in the reserves and these friendly games.
