LUFC McCartney extends Leeds stay

Leeds United have extended the loan of George McCartney from Sunderland for a further month.

McCartney has enjoyed a successful first month at Elland Road making six first team appearances in total.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson was keen to keep the Northern Ireland international for as long as possible, speaking on the official website, Grayson said, "We were keen for George to stay with us for a longer period and I`d like to thank Steve Bruce at Sunderland for agreeing to that."

The extra month also gives left back Ben Parker longer to return to full fitness after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

I'm so glad he's stayed, gives Parker more time to continue his reabilitation after so long out with injury. If he'd not stayed we had the options of Hughes, Bessone or rush Parker back.

Would like him at ER fulltime but can't see us ever affording him.

What we need is a settled back 5 for a couple of months. That's where consistency will come. I'd be interested to see how many times this year the same back 5 have played together. If you don't have stability there, it doesn't matter how good you are up front. I'd like to see Schmiechel, McCartney, Bruce (or Collins), O'Brien and Connolly get a run of games together...

More good news, Ben gets more time and at least he's consistent
