Three former Leeds United men have all picked up awards in the latest round of Football League Manager and Player of the Month awards for September.
Former goalkeeper Casper Ankergren is enjoying a successful start to his career at new side Brighton and Hove Albion and has just been named the League One Player of the Month.
The Danish shot stopper enjoyed three years at Elland Road and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club, including 35 in last seasons promotion winning team.
Ankergren was released at the end of last season by Simon Grayson and linked up with his former assistant manager Gus Poyet at League One side Brighton and Hove Albion on the eve of the new season.
The South coast club have made a great start to the new season and are currently leading the way at the top of the division.
Ankergren as been an ever present so far in the league and has kept four clean sheets in twelve games so far.
He had a mixed afternoon in Saturday`s clash with Bournemouth. He suffered a broken nose after being kicked in the face during the first half, he battled on, and looked like keeping another clean sheet and helping Brighton to another three points until he was beaten from the penalty spot in injury time.
Brighton`s start to the season also ensured that Gus Poyet also took the Manager of the Month award in League One.
They are currently three points clear at the top, taking 22 points from their opening 11 games.
Poyet was assistant to Dennis Wise and played a key part in the club overturning the 15-point penalty they incurred at the start of the 2007/08 season before he left to take a similar role at Tottenham Hotspur.
Former Leeds defender Micky Adams picked up the Manager of the Month in League Two, his current club Port Vale won all five of their games played.
They are currently leading the way in League Two and are one point ahead of Chesterfield at the top of the table.
Adams spent two years at Elland Road in the late 80`s and was part of the Leeds side that reached the FA Cup semi final and play off final under Billy Bremner in 1987.
The left back scored two goals for the club in almost 100 appearances.
Both goals came in the space of five days; his second was during the epic FA Cup run in 1987, when he scored the second against Wigan Athletic in the quarter finals at Springfield Park in a 2-0 win.
