LUFC Grayson - Bruce was stupid

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson had no complaints about Alex Bruce receiving a red card in the defeat at Ipswich Town on Saturday and described his second yellow card as 'stupid`.

It was the defenders first appearance back at the club he left in the summer and it was to be shortened after receiving two yellow cards and his marching orders on 80 minutes.

Speaking on Radio Leeds, Grayson said, "Both were probably bookings and a little bit stupid in terms of the second one.
"When you`ve already been booked you`ve got to stay on your feet."

The sending off came as a blow to Leeds who had just managed to get back on level terms in the game through Robert Snodgrass.

Leeds were to be punished within minutes when Tommy Smith headed home the winner for the home side and condemn Leeds to their first back to back defeats of the season.

It might have cost us three points, we had just scored, made two positive substitutions so we was in the driving seat. Having seen the second yellow card I can see why he's described it as stupid. The player was in the corner and he'd probably over run the ball. A stupid lunge, especially already on a yellow.

Just before the sending off we were starting to get back into the game...I thing it was more frustration the anything else...We were bad enough at the back as it was...Grayson will have to do something about theses sending off's because there costing us badly...A big fine might do the job...

I thought with a bit more determination and anticipation he could also have cut out Livermores pass to Scotland for the first. Both he and Naylor were slow off the mark.

seems fairly clear that Grayson has under prepared at the back to cope with Championship forwards - was no end of quality strikers and goalscoring midfielders available at no money in closed season but no defenders of note - now we know why

I thought Snodgrass was shocking in the centre of midfield for their first goal, the lad turned him inside out twice before going past him.

He will have to get used to warming the bench again when he gets back from his suspension. He looked half decent for two games!
