LUFC Mixed night for Clayton in reserves draw

Leeds United reserves battled to a 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough with midfielder Adam Clayton having a mixed night.

Clayton who joined from Manchester City last month put Leeds into the lead after coming from behind before being shown a red card for a professional foul.

It was also a mixed night for defender Leigh Bromby who scored Leeds equaliser in the first half before going off injured early in the second.

The good news of the evening was both Robert Snodgrass and Amdy Faye completed another 90 minutes as they improve their match fitness.

Leeds fell behind after just five minutes when Richard Smallwood put Boro ahead.

Leigh Bromby brought Leeds level before half time when he headed home a Faye cross.

Clayton put Leeds ahead early in the second half when he got on the end of a Nathan Turner cross.

His delight didn`t last for long when he was then shown a straight red card after bringing down Marvin Emnes inside the area to earn the home side a penalty.

Adam Halliday took the spot kick but saw his effort come back off the woodwork.

Boro didn`t have to wait long before getting back on level terms when Cameron Park scored from close range.

The home side nearly took the lead when Tony McMahon saw his effort come back off the bar whilst McMahon thwarted Andy Robinson after a Robert Snodgrass cross.

The reserves remain unbeaten in the East Division Totesport.com League after three games as they try to win the title for the third season in a row.

Great to see Snodgrass and Faye came through another 90 minutes. It sounded like Snodgrass was heavily involved.

Does this mean Clayton will be banned for this weekends game or will it start on Tuesday ??? A straight red will be three games.
erni
Good to see that both came through unscathed and should make the bench this weekend at least

I hope Snodgrass starts on Saturday, we have eight midfielders battling it out for the four places at the moment.
