LUFC Snodgrass and Paynter stepping up fitness

Leeds United duo Robert Snodgrass and Billy Paynter will be stepping up their return to fitness when they will play in a behind closed doors friendly next week.

Both players returned to training this week after missing the start of the season after suffering injuries during pre season.

Paynter, who only signed for the club during the summer, suffered a shin injury during the game against MFK Kosice in Slovakia, a game in which he scored his first goal for the club.

Snodgrass was the victim of a crude challenge in the game against SK Brann in Norway where he had to be stretchered off with a leg injury.

Speaking on the official website, Leeds boss Simon Grayson was pleased with the progress being made by the pair when he said, "They`ve been back in training for five days or so now.

"I`ve been really pleased with the progress they have made and it`s great to have them back with us."

The friendly is pencilled in for Tuesday, with both players looking to improve their fitness after missing the past six weeks.

I think the Sheff Utd game will be the game for them both to have a chance of first team football. The Doncaster game might come just too soon after Tuesday. We don't want to rush them back, we have other options but when these two are back we really have a great squad to pick from with just Kisnorbo left to come back.

I'm not quite sure just how Grayson will accomadate them in the side but what it will give us is a very, very strong bench.

So who gets dropped to fit em into team ?? - they BOTH (even the great Snoddy) need to win their places and on current team form its not gonna be easy for em
simonfire1
With the way the Team has started it will be difficult for either to get back in immediately, both will have to wait for there chance.

Back in training good news I can wait to see Paynter play hopefully he'll get a few games asap! And Snoddy with that pace he has miss him taking defenders on and his darting runs down the wings...

Once fully fit Snodddy is going to walk into the team but I think Paynter may have a more difficult job if Becchio and somma etc get their shooting boots on.
