LUFC Faye set for reserve outing

Midfielder Amdy Faye is set to play for Leeds United reserves at Grimsby Town on Tuesday night having spent the past week on trial at Thorp Arch.

The 33 year old has been without a club since being released by Stoke City at the end of last season.

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is set to travel to Blundell Park on Tuesday night to take a look at Faye, speaking on the official website, Grayson said, 'Amdy trained with us at the back end of last week and again on Monday.
'He's got plenty of good experience and he's done ok. He'll play on Tuesday and we'll have a look at his fitness levels.'

The Senegalese international has played mainly in the English Premier League since arriving in the country in August 2003. He has spent time with Portsmouth, Newcastle United, Charlton Athletic and Stoke City.

He also had a season on loan with Scottish Premier League side Glasgow Rangers from Charlton Athletic but struggled to earn a regular starting place.

He`s made 31 international appearances for Senegal and was part of the side that reached the Quarter Finals of the World Cup in 2002, where he appeared in two games.

Even if he perform for only this season as a defensive midfield 'rock' it will be worth having him oin board. Lets hope his injury days are behind him and he can have one last fling to take us to the play offs.

could be a clever signing this one !!!

He may be a free but I am sure he would want very high wages. I really like him, think he is that sort of player we need in midfield. Unfortunately he spends far more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. Look at his career stats, he's never played more than half a season during any season since he arrived in England in 2003. Do we want to use up a large chunk of wages on a player that we might not see much of on the pitch, with tight wad Bates in charge would he then give Grayson more cash to find another replacement. Like I have said, I like him when fit, but at 33 its going to get harder for him to stay injury free and longer to overcome injuries.

We could always use him on a pay as you go contract so he only gets proper wages if hes fit and playing. His salary cant be off putting or SG wouldnt give him a trial in the first place. (like Jay Simpson)

We need this type of player in the side but his injury record does worry me. They was saying the same about Kisnorbo, he was brilliant but then he got injured and we haven't seen him for six months/
