LUFC Grella turns down move away from Elland Road

Leeds United striker Mike Grella turned down the opportunity to join League Two side Oxford United on transfer deadline day.

The 23 year old turned down Oxford because he didn`t want to drop down to League Two according to U`s boss Chris Wilder.

The striker has struggled to break into the Leeds side since joining in January 2009 and as so far made just the nine starts with him often being selected amongst the substitutes.

So far this season he`s made just two substitute appearances against Derby County and Lincoln City.

Grella looks like struggling to even get amongst the substitutes at Elland Road in the future, he is currently only about fifth choice and with Billy Paynter hopefully returning soon his chances look even more limited.

Maybe it was more to do with money, surely he must realise that he's now got no chance at Leeds. We have Becchio, McCormack, Somma, Gradel and Watt wo can play up front and we still have Paynter to come back.

Was this a loan or permanent move ??? Some reports said loan and others a permanent ???

I've always liked this guy when he plays - and I really think he should have had a better shot at it than he has been given

Needs to get 1st team football somewhere to prove himself, foolish to turn that down look at Somma went to Lincoln now has a chance.

He should have gone and got some football under his belt, unless Leeds get a lot of injuries he's not going to get a chance at Elland Road.
