LUFC Grayson delighted with resilient defence

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was delighted with his sides defending as they kept their first clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win at Watford.

Leeds managed to keep the Watford attack at bay for almost the whole game having taken the lead in the sixth minute through Captain Richard Naylor.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Grayson said, 'It's a good result because it's our first away win of the season, a clean sheet as well and this is a difficult place to come and get a result.

'But we had to show a resilience, defend properly, head things, keeper coming for the ball and catching and we showed a lot of good aspects in terms of our defending."

As well as being the side`s first clean sheet of the season, it was also their first away win and the side can be reasonably happy to their start to the new season having mustered seven points from a possible twelve.

Having now settled down to life in the Championship again after a three-year absence they can look forward to five games in September with three Yorkshire derbies to contest.

Sounds like Naylor might have tried to answer a few of his critics (including me). I will be happy to eat humble pie if he can play well.
