LUFC No timescale on Paynter return to action

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is not putting a timescale on the return to action of striker Billy Paynter.

Paynter joined in the summer from Swindon Town after scoring 29 goals in League One last season.
He has been sidelined since taking a kick to his shin in the pre season game at MKF Kosice, a game in which he scored his first goal for the club.

The 26 year old is still wearing a protective boot and Grayson is monitoring his progress on a day-by-day basis. Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, 'He's still got his boot on and it's a slow process but we keep analysing him on a daily basis.
'Once he's out of the boot we can try and get him fit as quickly as possible.'

With Jermaine Beckford departing the club in the summer, Leeds fans will be hoping to see Paynter make a speedy recovery, in what is a busy first few month`s of the season.

I hope he's back soon, Both Somma and Gradel will be back in the next week but I think Paynter is going to do well. He's going to take a little while to get match fit as he's missed quite a bit of pre season so I can't see him being ready until September at the earliest.

Given he has had a cast on his leg for about 4 weeks now I guess the muscles will have wasted as well as his normal fitness being down. It always seems to take players who have missed pre season ages to get sharp in the regular season.

More serious than we thought, must have been a stress facture that was denied by E R

We need him back soon otherwise Becchio will be out on his feet by the end of September.
