LUFC Connolly out to prove a point

Leeds United summer signing Paul Connolly is looking for an opening day victory and hoping to prove a point against his former employees.

The 26 year old joined Leeds after being told by Derby boss Nigel Clough he was free to leave Pride Park after two years with the club.

Speaking on the official website, Connolly said, "I have got something to prove because the gaffer there deemed me surplus to requirements for many different reasons.

Connolly made 72 appearances for the Rams during his two-year stay that also saw him have a spell captaining the side.

Despite wanting to prove a point to his former boss, Connolly knows it will not be easy coming up against some of his former colleagues.

Continuing, Connolly said, "It`s never easy playing against your old team mates.
"Hopefully we will get the game out of the way with a nice victory for Leeds."

Connolly is one of eight summer signings by boss Simon Grayson and all will be looking to impress when the season kicks off for proper this Saturday.
