LUFC Darville having trial at Rovers

Young Leeds United defender Liam Darville is now having a trail at League One side Tranmere Rovers.

Darville played the full ninety minutes in Tranmere`s pre season friendly at Prenton Park against a Liverpool XI on Tuesday night.

The 19 year old as recently been on trial at Blue Square conference side York City and played in Saturday`s 1-1 draw with Hartlepool United before heading over to Merseyside.

York City boss Martin Foyle is still interested in signing the youngster who as come through the ranks at Elland Road, speaking in the York Press, Foyle said 'Liam Darville`s in my mind and I might need to think about bringing him in now ".

With Leeds boss Simon Grayson having already brought in eight new players ahead of the new season competition for places is very high.

Grayson as already allowed youngsters Tom Lees and Tom Elliott to join League Two clubs on six month loan deals and he might be looking to do the same with Darville, so that the clubs youngsters are getting used to a first team environment rather than just being involved with the reserves at Elland Road.

With all the players being brought in it looks less and less likely that unless these lads really stand out they will not get close to first team action this season. Was hoping that both Lees and Darville would be pushing for first team football this season. At least they will be gaining experience at other clubs.

The surprising thing is that that Darville was the stand out Man of the Match for York and they dallied about signing him and Tranmere jumped in. Lets hope he makes it at tranmere as the competition will be better for him. Darville is one who stood out last year and I was surprised he went to York as it looked at the time as if we were letting him go.

He's now joined Tranmere, good luck to him during his month. I wouldn't be surprised to see it extended.
