LUFC Collins signs for Leeds

Leeds United have signed Neil Collins for an undisclosed fee from Preston North End.

The central defender who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Elland Road for the final two months of last season has signed a three-year contract.

He becomes Leeds fifth signing of the season as Simon Grayson strengthens his squad ahead of the new Championship season.

Speaking about Collins on the official website, Grayson said, "Neil has plenty of experience at Championship level and he is another important addition to our squad."

The 26-year-old made nine appearances in the run in last season after injury ruled out regular centre back Patrick Kisnorbo for the remainder of the season.

Collins put in a number of excellent displays at the back helping Leeds to win five of their last nine games to clinch automatic promotion.

I thought he played really well for us especially as he was partnering Richard Naylor. The only thing that worries me is both Wolves and Preston fans said when we signed him on loan, "He will do well, he was really good for us until we signed him full time!".

He is a good center back and I think Grayson brought him in for cover until Kisnorbo is back, but in saying that he'll be much better alongside Kis, two very good players that will work for each other...

We've spent money crikey Uncle Ken must be having a thromby

We have spent no money worth talking about. The only reason the fee is undisclosed is because we have spent approx. 50k (nothing) and wolves have received nothing. It suits both teams by having the fee kept a secret. Its worrying that a top striker like Billy Sharp cost only 1.1m and we couldnt sign him. Becchio wont get us many goals and Paynter is unproven at this level.

We have spent no money on players but I bet some of the wages are costing a fair amount, especially Schmeichel.
