LUFC Leeds deny any contact with Bogdanovic

Leeds United have issued a statement strongly denying any link with striker Daniel Bogdanovic from Barnsley.

In a statement on the official website, the club said, 'Leeds United have refuted a claim from former Barnsley striker Daniel Bogdanovic that he had the opportunity to join the Elland Road club.
'Bogdanovic made the claim after signing for Sheffield United (on Wednesday night) but the Elland Road club can firmly deny that was not the case.
'The club received a call about the player's availability but he was never offered the chance to come to Leeds.'

The 30 year old joined Sheffield United on Wednesday and claimed after his signing that Leeds had been chasing him along with a host of other Championship clubs and also clubs from abroad.

Leeds have been linked with a number of strikers since the season finished with Jermaine Beckford on his way out of the club.

They made their first acquisition in the centre forward area on Wednesday, when they agreed to sign Billy Paynter from Swindon when his contract expires on June 30TH.

Leeds have gone for a player who managed to score 29 goals last season and not someone who could only manage 16 goals in 45 appearances for the Tykes.
