LUFC Schmeichel picks up another award

Leeds new goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel continues to collect awards for his exploits at his old club Notts County last season.

The Danish under 21 international kept 24 clean sheets last season in 48 games and helped the midlands club to the League Two title.

Schmeichel was named the League Two player of the season for his exploits and he`s now picked up the Macron Gold Glove award.

The award goes to the goalkeeper in each division of the Football League who keeps the most clean sheets during the season in the League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Johnstone`s Paint Trophy combined.

The League One award went to Fraser Forster at Norwich City who managed 22 clean sheets.

Casper Ankergren managed the most clean sheets at Elland Road keeping 13 in 36 appearances whilst Shane Higgs managed 7 in 22.

David Martin enjoyed a 100% record in the Leeds goal keeping a clean sheet in his only game, the 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do for Leeds, another 24 clean sheets next season will do nicely.
