LUFC Season review August

Magnificent seven for Grayson`s men

With the new season just under ten weeks away I thought it was about time that we worked our way through the rollercoaster ride that was the 2009/10 season.

We will start with August when Leeds hit the ground running making a 100% start to the campaign.

Leeds started the month with an impressive win at Burnley who were getting themselves ready for the Premiership. Goals from Mike Grella and Andy Robinson earned Leeds a 2-1 victory.

After many rumours throughout the summer, young midfielder Fabian Delph joins Premiership side Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Leeds sign midfielder Mike Doyle from Coventry City on a season long loan on the eve of the new season.

Jermaine Beckford starts the season in fine fashion with both goals as Leeds overcome a dogged Exeter City side at Elland Road on the opening day of the season.

A solitary Enoch Showunmi goal at Darlington is enough for Leeds to progress to the second round of the Carling Cup where they are drawn against Watford at home.

Leeds make it three wins out of three in the opening week of the season, Luciano Becchio scores the only goal of the game at Wycombe Wanderers.

Two goals in the final seven minutes earn Leeds another win this time at Walsall, Bradley Johnson gets his first of the season and Beckford scores his third in three games as they continue to set the pace in League One.

Leeds turn in their best performance of the season so far when they rollover Tranmere Rovers 3-0 at Elland Road. Bradley Johnson makes it two in two, another for Beckford and Luciano Becchio`s first of the season secure the points in a game that Leeds could have easily have scored six or seven.

Robert Snodgrass scores both goals as Leeds progress once again in the Carling Cup, this time against Championship side Watford.

Leeds are rewarded for the win when they draw Liverpool at home in the third round.

Leeds make it seven wins out of seven in the month of August when they win 2-1 at Colchester United.

Bradley Johnson continues his fine start to the season with his third league goal in as many games and Jermaine Beckford scores his fifth of the season.

Despite their 100% start to the season Leeds are second in the table as Charlton Athletic lead on goal difference having also won their first five league games.

Join us next week when we take a look back at September as the Leeds continue their great start to the season.

I can now look back on last season as a memorable one. Great looking back at just how well we started the season. I think I will still get worried when doing the February, March and April review.

I'm not greedy, I would take five wins from the opening seven games next season.

Looking forward to the rest Dazza. Really remember the Watford game as we sat lower down in the West Stand (our section was closed as the fair weather bunch didnt turn up for boring old Watford mid week). We could hear SG getting really wound up with the left sided defence and when we conceded late with sloppy defending he went totally ballistic. It was obvious he is passionate about Leeds and his first reaction when Snoddy got the winner was to to turn to the crowd and celebrate with them.

If we do as well next season as Leicester did in the CCC last season it'll be okay...
Rotherham White
I'll tke a top half finish for next season at the moment

Ive said it before and I still think next seasons championship will be weakest second tier for years - Would really like to see us put some money in and take advantage of it - all 3 of teams falling down from Prem are in a mess and with Newcastle and Brom going other way there are NO teams in there bigger than Leeds

I agree with Simon, I think we have a great chance of keeping the momentum going. A number of clubs are in serious financial difficulty and two of them have come down from the Premiership and will probably have to sell most of their players.
