LUFC Superstitions, omens and demons

Some people are superstitious, some look at omens to see them through when facing a nervy weekend at Elland Road.

I am all of the above when it comes to following the Whites.

When we are winning, then I must continue to go to games in exactly the same attire until I see them lose.

I first started this in the promotion season in 1989/90, and its just stuck ever since.

This is all well and good, but like this season, when you go to an early season game in summer clothes, it starts to get a bit chilly by the time you see them lose again at Swindon in January!

It can be a bit of a problem at times, I went to Yeovil in early April and it was freezing cold so wrapped up in a thick jumper and jacket. By the time we were playing at Gillingham on a baking hot spring afternoon, I would have loved to have just gone in my Leeds shirt.

After last Saturday`s defeat at Charlton I can once again pick what I want to go in, may just go back to what I had on against MK Dons a few weeks back.

We are all a strange bunch at times, one vital Leeds member refused to wash his lucky Leeds shirt until they lost, by the time of our first defeat of the season in late October he had few friends left, or those that were still around liked to keep a distance.

I am also one who looks very closely at omens, in the last two decades to finish in a 0, we have achieved something on the final day of the season.
In 1990 we was promoted, in 2000 we qualified for the Champions League, so surely 2010 must be promotion?

I don`t always just look at our history, Sheffield Wednesday were relegated last Sunday and have now been relegated in 1990, 2000 and 2010.

I am going to need a long rest after this season, I just hope and pray it finishes this Saturday.

I think if I had any hair I would have lost it this season!!!!

I did the same early season and kept on wearing the same gear for home matches while we were winning. I didnt wear it for Liverpool and we lost. I was on holiday for Calisle JPT so wore my ever more disgusting gear until Walsall in Feb when it went in the wash and didnt appear again until Southend. Guess i will have the tatty yellow effort on again tomorrow.

I see we'll be wearing the new kit for the first time tomorrow Hmm

I've been travelling over to Elland Road from Ireland for years as part of a supporters club. One member attended about 10 matches or so and we got beat every time. Even watching live matches in the pub when he attends we lose..... We now don't invite him and we are lucky on Saturday he is working. I told him not to even put the radio on.

And in the end the dirt sealed into the sponsor of that jersey and fell off. I now have a blue and navy away jersey with no sponsor that looks ridiculous forcing me to buy the new jersey soon! Ken Bates wins again...

Nice one lads, thought you were in trouble when you went down to 10 men, but you walked it in the end. Good luck in the Championship next season - if old Bates gets the cheque book out this summer, who knows, you could be celebrating this time next year. All the best from an MCFC fan

You got there in the end, bit of a nervous and twitchy time but well done .
