'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Fans view v Charlton

I was present with over 3,000 Leeds fans hoping to see us gain the three points that would earn us automatic promotion.

Unfortunately we was undone late on by an own goal by Richard Naylor.

These are my player ratings from the game.

Shane Higgs 6
Probably his best games since returning from injury even though he didn`t have a great deal to do. Made a fantastic save to deny Deon Burton in the first half.

Was at full stretch for the Charlton goal when Naylor headed past him.

Andy Hughes 6 Replaced 83 minutes
Had a steady game on the right of defence, didn`t help out the Leeds attack as Snodgrass was very quiet in front of him.

Neil Collins 6
Another, who had a steady game, nothing spectacular. Did the basics well, so unlucky not to give Leeds the lead in the first half.

Richard Naylor 6
I was very critical of Naylor on here after the Gillingham game. Thought he had a much better game until the final minutes.
It was another poor attempt at a headed clearance by him that led to the goal. Not sure what to say about the goal, I suppose he had to go for the ball but was nowhere near getting it away.

Shane Lowry 6
Did well on the left and tried to help going forward. Another who had a steady if not inspiring performance.

Neil Kilkenny 6
Tried to get things going in the midfield, was very unlucky not to send Beckford through on goal late on.

Mike Doyle 6 Replaced 72 minutes
As usual went about his game relatively unnoticed. Does the dirty work in the Leeds midfield.

Bradley Johnson 5
Hardly got into the game at all and was guilty quite a few times of giving the ball away far too easily.

Robert Snodgrass 5 Replaced 63 minutes
Very quiet game from Snodders, wasn`t surprised to see him replaced just past the hour mark. I hope he`s on form next week as he is pivotal to the Leeds midfield.

Luciano Becchio 6
Didn`t look like scoring, put in a hard shift and was very tightly marked by Sam Sodje.

Max Gradel 6
Really should have done better with his early chance when through on goal. Looked better when he moved out to the wing when Beckford came on.

Substitutes

Jermaine Beckford 6 63 minutes

Once again he looked up for the game when he came on, should have done better with a good chance when it was 0-0. Was unlucky not to equalise with a powerful header in stoppage time.

Sanchez Watt 6 72 minutes
Looked lively when he came on and got stuck in. Was disappointed to see him on the bench. He must start next Saturday.

Mike Grella 5 83 minutes
Didn`t really get into the game after he came on.

Simon Grayson 7
I was fully behind his decision to go for the game in the last thirty minutes with Millwall losing. We had absolutely nothing to lose and a point meant nothing with Leeds still needing three points next week to guarantee automatic promotion.
My only disappointment was to see him drop Sanchez Watt to the bench.

Summary
A great chance missed with Millwall losing. If somebody would have offered me the position we are in now before kick off I would have snapped there hands off.

A win next week and we are promoted, no disrespect to Bristol Rovers but if we can`t get up for this game and win in front of nearly 40,000 fans, then we don`t deserve to go up.

I think Grayson did the right thing to try and win the game with Millwall 2-0 down. I watched the game at ER on the big screen and nobody really stood out for me but I thought Hiughes did well at LB keeping their winger very quiet and cleared a header off the line. I think you are being kind to both Kilkenny and Naylor. Killa was again being knocked off the ball all too easily and a bad header lead to the goal. Naylor panicked with the OG and had he left it to Higgs he would have got it. I thought Collins was slow with his chance to score from a great header across goal from Johnson and Gradel could have given us a very early lead with a bit more composure..

One word about Naylor - liability!
King Billy
I couldn't think of anyone who deserved the man of the match, I thought most players were average and that shows in my markings.

Naylor has been a liabilty for a number of weeks, if we see why doesn't S G

Bristol Rovers - you've just got to win this one guys.

The person who should have got Man of the match award was Andy Robinson...He has kept us in the hunt.
