The youngsters knocked out some prize scalps on their way to the final in a tournament that was played in temperatures over 30 degrees.

Leeds progressed through the group stage after drawing with Italian side AC Milan 1-1, beating Glasgow Celtic 4-1 and drawing with Danish side Bronby 1-1 to finish top of their group.

They then knocked out Premiership sides in the knockout stages to reach the final, firstly they saw off Blackburn Rovers 1-0 thanks to a goal from Liam Darville and then took the prize scalp of Arsenal 1-0 thanks to a goal from Will Hatfield.

Unfortunately the lost the final 2-0 to Greek side Olympiacos but could be very proud of their achievements against clubs all plying their trades in the top divisions of their respective leagues.

A great effort from the team, when you think we are in League One and you look at the quality of the opposition its a fantastic achievement to reach the final. Now we need to start giving a few of these lads a chance like Darville and Hatfield. We seem to have brought some good youngsters through in recent years who have all either been poached away and disappeared into obscurity or released by Leeds. Will Grayson be tempted to give any of them a chance in the run in, the can't do any worse than some of those that under performed on Saturday.

A previous report said the progressed out of the group stages 'watched by a host of PL and International scouts' ??? We lost Luke Garbutt after a similar youth tournament last year when a watching Stuart Pearce said he should be playing at a PL club. I have seen both Hatfield and Darville this season and both are pretty decent players so lets hope we keep them (they are both on professional cntracts so cant go for 'nothing' like Garbutt)

Unlucky at the end, but a great effort, now tell the P L scouts to foxtrot oscar
