'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa Snub Spurs On Bakke

Eirik Bakke returned to the top flight earlier this season, spending more than three months on loan with Aston Villa under former Leeds boss David O'Leary.

However, the 28-year-old Norwegian was forced to return to Leeds as the club refused to hand the Irishman the funds to acquire Bakke.

Bakke: 'I had a taste of the Premiership with Aston Villa earlier this season, and that's made me more determined to get back there,' insisted Bakke.

'It's the place I want to be - the place everyone wants to be. I want to test myself against the best players in England and the world.

'You can sense the will and desire within the other players to do the same, and hopefully we can do it.

'But it's all about how we cope on the day. It's about being the best.

'There's no point talking about a contract now, other than to say I hope to be with Leeds in the Premiership.

'If we win on Sunday, we're back, and that's all I'm concentrating on.

'Anything else would be a major disappointment. I don't want to even think about the consequences.'
