LUFC Youngster signs new two year deal

Leeds United defender Tom Lees has agreed a two year contract extension with the club.

Lees who is currently on a season long loan with Accrington Stanley is enjoying a good season with the League Two club and as already made 30 appearances.

The 19 year old as come through the Leeds United Academy and Simon Grayson agreed to loan the youngster out to give him the opportunity to experience first team football.

The defender has yet to make a competitive appearance for Leeds but was involved in the clubs pre season tour of Ireland last summer.

Speaking on the official website Grayson said "He has done well at Accrington this season and a new contract here will give him further chance to develop his game and gain experience".

Lees is predominantly a centre back but as reverted to right back during his time at Accrington with their manager, John Coleman quoted as saying, he`s the best right back in League Two this season.

Accrington are enjoying a good season in League Two and are currently in eight place, just one place outside the play off places.

We need a few more youngsters coming through the ranks. We have allowed some decent youngsters to leave recently (and had some pinched off us). We have always had a good bunch of home grown talent come through the ranks but not much in recent years. Only Jon Howson and Fabian Delph have had regular first team football.

With our recnt history with the youngsters he will probably be gone before Christmas. Need to start bringing some through.

delighted to hear he can play rb aswell as centre...should be givin a chance next year...the league 2 best rb....has to be better than what were playin at the min....
