'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Fans view v Oldham Athletic

Vital Leeds contributor Tiny T gives us his usual player ratings and overview of Leeds latest game.

This time it`s on a more happy note following a 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic.

Ankergren 6
The odd regulation save and swept up behind the defence when needed, will not have such a quiet day on Saturday.

Hughes 6
Decent showing from Hughes and got forward to back up Snodgrass, defensively sound, but the winger was poor.

Naylor 6
Solid at the back but his distribution was shocking.

Kisnorbo 6
Again solid against a poor forward line.

Lowry 6
Another who gave little away and nearly scored when he had one kicked off the line.

Snodgrass 7
His best performance of late, got better as the game went on, needs to cross earlier than he does.

Doyle 7
Tackled and ruffled the Oldham midfield all night, passing a little too slow and he'll never score whilst in a Leeds shirt.

Howson 7 Star man
Eased his way into the game and got stronger as the game went on. All action performance, got Leeds on the front foot and not afraid to get stuck in. Leave the centre pairing alone Larry.

White 7
We had width with the inclusion of White and boundless pace, he shone like a beacon with his willingness to take on players. Should not have been subbed, would have made more sense to take off the miss firing Beckford instead and given White the full 90 minutes, as he will not start on Saturday.

Beckford 5
Again, improved from Saturday but needs a spark.

Becchio 7
Two goals says it all and will do his confidence no harm, good all round performance especially after half time.

Subs

Gradel 6

Produced one or two tricks and not afraid to shoot

Grella 5
Not really on long enough to make an impression

Johnson
Given two minutes at the end.

Summary

A better performance, the team also looked balanced for a change. Simon Grayson made the wrong sub bringing off White, should have given him the full 90 minutes as he looked threatening when given space to attack the full back and I cannot see him starting Saturday against Town.

Once the goal went in the confidence flowed and we should have taken more advantage of a poor side.

Thanks Tiny as usual, good to see the midfield had a much better game and I think we was all glad to see White getting a game.

White should have had the full 90 mins, nobody could see why he was taken off
Tiny T
White was taken off as he had cramp and couldnt carry on. Good review Tiny and only reservation i would have was that I thought Hughes had a really good game against taylor. They obviously targeted him and he played so well taylor switched wings. He also sent in a perfect cross to Beckford firsat half that he volleyed over mainly because he was too idle to get properly into positon. Beckford didnt deserve a 5 and his ONLY contribution (other than theatrical falling over) was the cross for Becchios goal. Grella should have come on a lot earlier and showed a lot of skill and determination in the 10 minutes he had. He set Gradel up for a 1 on 1 that he missed. A much better , higher tempo display.

Those around me had Beckford off 1st with Gradel on, but S G manages the team, agree our subs need more time 10 mins isn't enough and at 2-0 we could afford to do it. With regards to White I didn't see any signs of cramp could this be an excuse
Tiny T
Around me in the Kop we had White to be subbed 1st before K O coincidence or can we see the future
Tiny T
White came off because he is not physically strong enough to last 90 mins at the moment, maybe more starts will aid this. As for Howson as motm, that's slightly disputable. Everyone's entitled to an opinion and mine was that he was poor last night. Fair play to him that he kept plugging away and carried on showing for the ball, but when he had it he didn't do enough and wasn't strong enough. Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't change the middle partnership as them 2 work the best together. Snodgrass motm for me as he looked most likely to do something, but apart from that pretty much spot on :)

Beckford does need a spark with a rocket attached to it!!!
