'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Grayson delighted by response

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was delighted to see his side back to winning ways after a run of no wins in five games with a 2-0 win over Colchester on Saturday.

He was particularly pleased with the way they bounced back after the poor performance at Swindon in midweek.

Speaking on Teamtalk.com Grayson said 'I expected that reaction because the players were disappointed and wounded by the defeat at Swindon in midweek".

Grayson was also pleased with the clean sheet after the side had conceded nine goals in their previous four games.

'We defended really well as a team. We looked very hard to beat and were resilient, restricting them to very few chances,' said Grayson.

Leeds won thanks to two goals from leading goalscorer Jermaine Beckford, his 23rd and 24th of the season.

The win was even more significant with third place Charlton dropping another two home points in a 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers.

Leeds are now five points clear of Charlton with a game in hand in the second automatic promotion place.

Grayson will now get his side prepared for the FA Cup fourth round replay in midweek with Tottenham Hotspur at home.

Good to see he dropped a few after the midweek defeat although its rumoured three of them was foced upon him by injury and illness. He needed to make a point after the defeat at Swindon, the players need to be kept firmly on their toes. This month has shown that a couple of poor results and other teams can quickly catch us up.
