LUFC Beckford staying until the end of the season

Leeds United have said that prolific goalscorer Jermaine Beckford will be staying at the club until the end of the season.

Beckford handed in a transfer request at the end of December and the club have said that after a number of discussions between Leeds, Beckford and his representatives he`s decided to stay at Leeds until the end of the season as it`s in everyone`s best interest.

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson speaking on the official website said "I`m keen to draw a line under the situation and now we can all move on together."

Despite being out of contract at the end of the season and turning down the offer of a new contract last summer, and him subsequently being placed on the transfer list for a short time Beckford`s continued to lead the way in front of goal and he`s already reached the 20 goal mark for the third season in a row.

Continuing Grayson said "Jermaine has always given 100% and hopefully his goals will play a big part for us over the next few months".

Leeds suffered only their second league defeat of the season at Exeter on Saturday, which allowed Norwich and Charlton to close the gap at the top.
