Former Leeds assistant manager and new Brighton boss Gus Poyet was full of praise for his former employees after seeing his new team beaten 3-0 at the Withdean.
Poyet had enjoyed a fairytale start to his reign as Brighton boss, with victories over Southampton and Wycombe in his first two games in charge, but his side had no answer to a clinical Leeds side who continue the pursuit of promotion.
Speaking in the Brighton local paper, The Argus, Poyet said 'They are the best team in the division. I said it before the game and they confirmed it today.
'You always expect to be closer and have a chance to win but I think today you have to give credit to Leeds United.
Leeds fans gave Poyet a tremendous ovation when he walked across the pitch before kick off and will all be wishing him well in his new job and hopefully taking points off other teams around Leeds at the top of the table.
