LUFC Oldham v Leeds FA Cup preview

Leeds travel to fellow League One opposition Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday in a match the will make history as the first ever FA Cup tie to be shown live on the internet.

The Latics have made an indifferent start to the season with no consistency in their results.
After winning only one of their opening eight league games they then went five unbeaten.
They have won only one of their last three games and that was on their travels at Brighton.
In their last two home games, they have lost to Southampton and Huddersfield.
Overall at Boundary Park this season they have won two, drawn three and lost four.
They are currently in thirteenth place in League One, four points outside the play offs.

Oldham went out in the first round last season, losing a home replay 1-0 against Cheltenham Town.

The Whites continue to set the pace in League One and stretched their lead at the top to seven points last weekend.

Leeds have lost only one game so far this season, this coming at Millwall two weeks ago, since then they have beaten Bristol Rovers and Yeovil both 4-0.

So far on their travels this season, Leeds have won six, drawn one and lost one in all competitions.

Last season Leeds were embarrassed in the second round when they lost at Blue Square conference side Histon Town 1-0.

Oldham have been something of a bogey side to Leeds United over the years at Boundary Park. Leeds have only ever won on three visits out of twenty one previous encounters, with Oldham winning ten times.

Leeds are however unbeaten on their last four visits, winning one and drawing three.

When the two clubs met last season Oldham enjoyed a 2-0 win at Elland Road thanks to two goals from Chris Taylor.

In the return game in front of the live Sky TV cameras the side drew 1-1, Lee Hughes scored early in the second half for the hosts before Luciano Becchio equalised for Leeds soon afterwards.

The two clubs have only ever met once before in the FA Cup in 1995 when Leeds won a fourth round encounter 3-2 at Elland Road thanks to goals from David White, Carlton Palmer and Phil Masinga.
