'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Time to get behind Casper

After watching Leeds destroy Bristol Rovers last night I should have been walking away from the ground a very happy man, but there was one thing that was annoying me.

I couldn`t believe the fans ridicule and reactions to our keeper Casper Ankergren.

Whenever the ball went close to him, the fans couldn`t wait to either lambaste him for something or ironically cheer him if he came out and caught the ball under no pressure.

Remember this is the one player on the pitch in a Leeds shirt you don`t need having a confidence crisis and at the moment the fans response to him must be killing his spirit.

This is the same keeper who the season we was relegated when he joined on loan from Brondby, helped us almost avoid the drop, single handed

The season after he put in consistent performance after consistent performance and helped us turn around a fifteen point penalty and reach the play off final.

In that play off final, Leeds fans could have been heading for the exit door after thirty minutes had it not been for his heroics in the Leeds goal.

Since the start of last season his form has dropped below that standard and I am sure he would be the first to admit it, but the continuous barracking he`s getting will surely only make matters worse.

I can understand the fans frustration, I feel the same as well, but what I will do is keep them to myself as not to destroy his confidence.

Unfortunately some will follow like sheep and when one or two fans give him a hard time this quickly multiplies.

He needs our support not ridicule, otherwise things will only get worse.

So all I ask is give him a break whilst he covers for the injured Shane Higgs.
