Johnson looking to earn his stars and stripes

Leeds United midfielder Bradley Johnson has expressed his desire to play for the USA after they made an approach regarding him representing them.

Johnson would qualify for the States through his late Grandfather, is having his best spell since joining Leeds United in January 2008 and has already scored six goals this season.

Speaking on the official website, Johnson said 'I've spoken to them. They've phoned me up and asked if I was eligible to play for them and would I like to.
I said I would if the chance came along, but I'm just concentrating on Leeds at the moment and a call-up would be an extra bonus for me."

The USA have already qualified for the World Cup in South Africa next year and Johnson will be hoping to continue with his own personal form and earn a call up for the national squad.

Lets hope he can continue the way he is, he's been a revelation this season and after the departure of Delph just before the season started. I actually think we have done better with Johnson than we would have with Delph. Lets hope he can finish the season helping Leeds to promotion and then going off to the World Cup. Good luck Bradders

If he goes and has a good couple of games we will hvw all the speculation of minor Prem teams looking at him. The usual Bolton, wigan, Hull, Stoke rubbish. We would also lose him to long distance meaningless internations

Surely he's got a long lost relative or friend who had an irish setter, surely that would get him into the Irish squad!
