LUFC Wycombe v Leeds Vital Preview
Leeds United travel to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday for the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
The Chairboys have started the season with two defeats. On the opening day of the season, they lost 3-2 at Charlton Athletic.
On Tuesday, they played hosts to Peterborough United in the Carling Cup and lost 4-0.
In their last six home games of last season when they won promotion form League Two they won two, lost two and drew two.
The Whites have started the season with two victories. In their opening league fixture they beat Exeter City at Elland Road 2-1 thanks to a 88th minute winner from Jermaine Beckford.
On Monday night, the beat Darlington 1-0 away in the first round of the Carling Cup thanks to an Enoch Showunmi goal.
In their last six away games of last season Leeds won three, lost two and drew one.
It will be the first time the two clubs have met in their histories.
Wycombe Wanderers became a Football League club in 1993 when they won the Football Conference by a record fifteen points.
Since gaining their place in the league, the club fortunes have fluctuated between League One and League Two.
They have also had two very enjoyable cup runs this century. They reached the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup in 2000/01 before eventually losing narrowly 2-1 to Liverpool.
They reached the same stage of the League Cup in 2006/07 as a League Two club beating two clubs from the Premiership on the way. They eventually went out to Chelsea 5-1 on aggregate after holding them to a 1-1 draw at home.
Familiar faces in the opposition
Leeds fans will recognise a couple of the Wycombe players on Saturday as two ex Leeds lads will be in the opposition.
Both Michael Duberry and Ian Westlake signed for Wanderers in the summer from Reading and Cheltenham respectively.
Duberry joined Leeds in 1999 for £4.5 million but failed to win a regular place in the side due to injuries and competition for places.
He left in 2005 having made only 57 starts during his six years with the club.
Ian Westlake joined Leeds in 2006 in a cash plus player deal with Ipswich Town when defender Dan Harding went in the other direction.
Westlake was a regular in his first season with the club but soon found himself struggling to get in the starting line up.
He spent the last few month`s at Brighton on loan in season 2007/08, he then went on a three month loan deal at Cheltenham the following season. Leeds released him from his contract in January 2009 and he signed for Cheltenham the following day.
In his three years at Elland Road Westlake made only 47 starts.
