LUFC Delph completes Villa move

Aston Villa have completed the signing of young Leeds midfielder Fabian Delph.

The transfer is for an undisclosed fee and was completed after the player completed his medical at the club.

The 19 year old burst onto the Elland Road scene last season with a number of outstanding performances that won him a call up to the England Under 21 squad in November. Delph made his debut as a second half substitute in the game with the Czech Republic.

Delph was earning plenty of plaudits and a number of Premiership clubs began to take an interest, two clubs made offers for him in the January transfer window but Bates laughed off the bids and said "We don`t deal in petty cash".

Delph`s form continued into the New Year and he won the Football League`s Young Player of the Year award.

Awards kept coming his way and at the end of season awards at Leeds he won the goal of the season for his goal at Brighton, Young Player of the Year and Player`s player of the Year.

Villa have beaten of competition from a number of Premiership clubs including Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, Sunderland and Manchester City who had actually agreed a deal with Leeds for Delph at the weekend but wanted a week to think about it.

What a surprise, its a undisclosed fee. Will we ever find out how much we got for him? Anyway I'd like to wish him all the best, he had a fantastic season last season and you cannot blame a lad for wanting to move to a Premiership club.

It always hurts seeing our best and youngest talent smiling away and holding someone elses shirt. It was inevitable but i still dont like it.
erni
