LUFC Grayson's got money to spend

Simon Grayson has been told that he`s got money to spend after the club agreed to sell Fabian Delph for a substantial fee to Aston Villa.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates told Grayson that he had funds available to him to strengthen the squad, Grayson`s response shocked Bates speaking on Yorkshire Radio Bates said, Simon`s response was "I`m not going to let it burn a hole in my pocket, but it`s nice to know it`s there if I need it."

Rumours coming out of France are that Leeds are about to sign Troyes defender Mathieu Baudry who recently enjoyed a trial spell at the club.

He's been told this all Summer but has failed to do anything which suppose isn't necessarily a bad thing...I just hope he signs a good midfielder who can replace if not better Delph this season...

Baudry received some good reviews in pre season so wouldn't be a bad signing. I would still like to see some of the deadwood got rid of, then we can bring in better quality.

I don't understand Grayson saying that he doesn't need it. Whats that mean of course he needs money. And Grayson saying I'm not going to let it burn a hole in his pocket. Dose that mean he's no going to purchase players? To strengthen our squad Ah I'm confused. We have money now and its going to be spent. What about T/A and ER. Come on Grayson.
iwa
I think what Grayson is saying is that if he really wants someone he will go for him but will not spend on people just because they are 'names' and available. Remember people like Sweeney and Elding who were panic buys. If he signs baudry it is pretty certain someone will go.
erni
It's pretty obvious what he means. We won't panic buy, because we don't need to! We won't buy players that aren't better than what we have, which is a good thing. We've bought far too many dead wood squad players over the past few years, some of whom we still have. There is no immediate need to go and buy anyone,. We have to trust Larry. He has a far more expert eye than any of us and he sees the squad on a daily basis. He might wait until the next transfer window opens, review the league position and progress and THEN decide if we need to buy. Makes much more sense than grabbing who we can now!

Doesn't seem he has any intention of spending it, and is it just me or did Ken Bates claim Grayson had money to spend before all this? People are making out like it's a new revelation, are we assuming he was lying before, because that would be totally out of character for the lovable bearded Santa Claus lookalike.
