LUFC Bates explains Delph decision
Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has spoken about the clubs decision to sell Fabian Delph to Aston Villa.
Bates admitted that the club had agreed a fee with Manchester City at the weekend but City needed a week to then think about the deal so Bates pulled the plug.
19 year old Delph has apparently made it clear to the club that he wanted to play Premiership football and Bates was happy with him joining Villa who have a good record of bringing through young English talent, that was a key factor for Bates.
No fee has been revealed so far but Bates Speaking on Yorkshire Radio said "It`s a substantial fee, it`s a good one for a 19 year old.
We get a fee some of which has to go to Bradford City as part of a sell on, and there`s contingency built in, subject on Villa`s performance."

Still not letting anything out of the bag about how much we got for Delph. He Say's its a good fee I wonder what a good one means.
Bates said that Villa are very good at bringing young players on.
I'D say they offered more money. City wanted a week Bates wanted the money asap.

I am glad that out of the clubs interested that he's joined Villa, he will get more of a chance with the club. If he'd joined City he would have probably rotted in the reserves for a few years.
