LUFC Casper Ready to do Battle

Leeds United Keeper Casper Ankergren admitted that he is ready to do battle for the starting spot in manager Simon Grayson`s squad for the opening game of the season against Exeter.

The Great Dane missed the Blackburn game due to a shoulder injury which he picked up in training and his replacement Shane Higgs put in a stunning performance in his place leaving Grayson in a dilemma of his no.1 keeper who admitted he had a 'big decision' ahead of him.

Grayson said in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post that, 'He picked up a shoulder knock in training last week and we decided to leave it alone. But he should be fit for this week.'

Casper might have felt relief when he saw that he was given the Number 1 jersey when the squad was announced but Shane Higgs hasn't given up that easily saying, ''I came here to play. That's my objective.'

Casper looks set to line up against Newcastle on Wednesday night and will have to give a good performance if he is to match that of Shane Higgs against Blackburn last Saturday.

I think he should be second choice to Higgs, Ankergren is far too dodgy and the less we say about his distribution the better!

Angerken seemes naturally the number 2 choice but if he plays well and makes it tough for Grayson then Im not complaining!
