LUFC Higgs relishing challenge

New goalkeeper Shane Higgs was delighted to make his home debut in front of the Elland Road crowd on Saturday.

Speaking on the official website Higgs said "I loved it on Saturday. It was a great atmosphere, it was good to see such a good crowd in, and it was a good game".

Higgs faces a battle for the keepers spot with Casper Ankergren who was injured on Saturday.

The former Cheltenham goalkeeper put in an impressive display in front of the Elland Road faithful and is determined to be the regular between the sticks this season when he said "I came here to play, that`s my objective".

Higgs who is used to playing for a team struggling at the bottom of League One will be looking forward to playing in front of large crowds and for a side that will be hoping for promotion come May.

Higgs should be number 1, I was worried when they gave Ankergen the number 1 jersey.

Im still wondering why they gave Casper the no.1 jersey... Hopefully both Keepers will push each other all the way this season. And I suppose we can send Alan Martin out on loan now...
Gromjo
Sorry until I see Higgs play, Casper is No1 for me, very consistant when given a run in the side
