LUFC - Patience is the key for Leeds

Leeds boss Simon Grayson says he will not be rushed into signing players this summer just for the sake of it.

Quite a number of Leeds fans have shown their displeasure on a number of forums with Leeds lack of activity in the transfer market so far this summer.

Grayson is quite happy with the way things are moving forward so far this summer and speaking on the official site said "I could have quite easily have gone out and signed six dozen players if I wanted, but they wouldn`t have been of the quality I think I need to bring to this football club".

So far Leeds only additions to the squad have been free transfers, defender Jason Crowe joined from Northampton Town and goalkeeper Shane Higgs from Cheltenham Town.

What this does illustrate though is that Simon Grayson is filling the gaps that Leeds fans most desperately wanted filling last term.

Leeds continue to be linked with a number of players with nothing materialising, Grayson seems like a manager who likes to play his cards very close to his chest and doesn`t like announcing a new signing until the player has signed the contract.

To all Leeds fans be patient, Simon Grayson and his backroom team showed in the second half of last season that they have what it takes to take the club forward with some very astute signings in the likes of Sam Sodje and Richard Naylor that took the club on a run that saw them win nine out of their last eleven League games.

They also equalled a club record which has stood for over fourty years when winning their last eleven League games in a row.

Things are finally looking back on an upward trend on the pitch at Elland Road after a number of barren years and Simon Grayson will be the man to lead us there.

I am fed up with all the doom mongerers and defeatests, we have only lost Jonathan Douglas who can be seen has a regular first teamer last term and to be honest he was only staying in the team because he was playing at right back, he would have struggled to get in ahead of Kilkenny and Howson the way they played in the second half of last season. We have brought in a new keeper ( We have all been shouting for one) and a defender who can play anywhere across the back (we've been shouting for one of those two). I have no doubt if Grayson had been in charge at the start of last season we would be contemplating life in the Championship and not another season in League One. Stay positive, this season will be the one when we move on up.
Pointless rushing. As long as the right players are signed.
Totally agree Dazza and given his statement that some are coming and some going over the next few weeks (plus some foreign trialists) he seems in control. Looks like another possible target (19 year old Josh Wright) who looked like he was coming here has made a last minute change and gone after leaving Charlton due to their financial troubles. Still no worries and onwards towards the next target and we have enough good midfielders anyway
I can understand some fans frustration as we face a third year in league 1 but at times it is rediculous, the dissatisfaction of some fans. We have been one of the most transfer active teams in England and every time a signing is made people are complaining about him before he kicks a ball! Some fans need to give it a rest
with the right players am sure it will be your season this year , good luck lads and hope you make it .
The only question is... where is all the money going? From last seasons ticket sales we should have atleast 2 million to spend and with less strain on the wages with 2 high earners douglas and richardson leaving, and the training ground still not brought, i think there is only 1 answer, ken bates back pocket!
Sorry but I think some people are blinkerd, Should we be trying to become a prem side or not or are we contented in staying put. I fully understand that we dont just want anybody but for christ sake the only two player signed are free transfers which says what quality they are, We want player that are proven & better than the ones we av & basically THEIR NOT. Lets hope Bates & Greyson dont let us down this season because it sure feels like this time last season just a different manager. And im not being NEGITIVE just realistic. MOT

Well said Pete we need to improve the squad with quality not others from lower leagues cast offs

Grayson said on sky sports news today that he's hoping for 4 or 5 signings this summer...hopefully we will all be content then
On the basis of what some are saying if you are on a free you are no good. Michael Owen seems to have convinced Fergie he is worth a go and hes on a free, Patrick Viera is available on a free as well. I think if we had a few injuries both of these might sneak into our team. Both Higgs and Crowe were free because their contracts had run down. Both their parent clubs would have liked to have offered them new contracts. Lets give them a chance before saying they are no good.
Richard Naylor came on a free and is well over 30 , is he rubbish?
Hi dazza71, Firstly yes I do personally think Naylor is rubbish, He's a deffender that likes to push up to far & leaves the left back open and puts pressure on our deffence with counter attacking football & also we gave alot of goals away which came from our left & I wrote this on many occasions. not a player I would pick & on player poll vote He hardly ever got a vote.As for Viera Birmingham got him from a team thats plays above them,Why cant we ?. Owen! passed his sell by date for the prem & not versiatile enough for Man scum. Force him on his left he's crap & we will see how many starts he'll get. And also Fergi is a tight arse being Scottish. We need Quality not Quantity so just because their contract as ran out doesn't mean their any good remember they came from teams below us & that for me says their not an improvement for us. but lets hope Im wrong for all. MOT.

Sorry I've not got my thinking head on Its not Naylor i was thinking about It was freeman. so Sorry Dazza Yes Naylor was a good sign he commanded the deffence & put 110 % in ever game. SORRY
