LUFC - Beckford back in training

Leeds United reported back for pre season training today (Thursday) and want away striker Jermaine Beckford participated with the rest of the squad.

Beckford who was put on the transfer list after turning down the offer of a new contract at the end of last season, still has one year left on his contract and could still be a big part of Leeds bid to get out of League One this coming season.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates speaking on Yorkshire Radio was happy to welcome back Beckford when he said "Jermaine remains at Leeds, he is our player, and he is an important part of our plans to win promotion this season".

With a number of clubs rumoured to be chasing the 34 goal leading goalscorer from last season Bates hasn`t written off the chance of the striker staying with Leeds beyond this coming season, continuing he said "You can always sign extended and improved contracts at any stage of the season and that may be his decision if we are near the Championship places later in the season".

Leeds fans are still waiting for news regarding the signing of Warren Feeney with the striker reported to be at Leeds on Wednesday for his medical.
Hearts of Midlothian have also been rumoured to be interested in the signing of the Cardiff City player.

I like the fact that Bates is mentioning signing him as the season goes on...Shows a bit of ambition
Gromjo
We can keep him, his contract expires at the end of the season, by then hopefully were up. I for one would rather have his goals.
Tiny T
With the rumours that are going around for a replacement, id rather have him stay for the season
benlufc
It will turn into a tough decision come the end of the month... He stays and scores potentially 20+ goals but we get no money Or he goes and we get a guarenteed 2 million and a new striker.
Gromjo
if he stays the season, scores the goals that take us up and walks away..i will only hav respect 4 him..ya see so many players sittin on the bench these days cause they want a transfair away from the club..i wish becks the best of luck this season and hope he remembers who gave him his big break werveer he goes...
TWINY-LUFC
Who was it that gave him his big break ...was that Scunthorpe because Blackwell (I am the most certificated coach in the CCC) didnt give him a chance. I would love him to score 30 again and if he leaves for free then so be it.
erni
Such an influentail player, but can he keep fit and then stay on the pitch for 90 minutes.
Buzz Lightyear
I don't think we can lose. If he goes now, we should get a good price/replacement. If he stays, scores a hatfull and we don't get promoted, we'll either sell him for more money to a Premier or CCC team, and if we get promoted, he may well stay anyway, with a greater reputation and more experience behind him.

I Agree with Buzz Lightyear he is a infuentail Player...And I hope he stays no matter what if can get us another 30 + im sure he will be able to stay Fit...He is looking for a Wage hike because he Deserves one...Mot
