Martyn Breaks Into History

I think it says a lot about the lack of success in recent decades when goalkeeper Nigel Martyn is the only player from the modern-day game to make the Greatest Ever side.

The Greatest Leeds United XI has been named on the official website, with (hardly surprising) most of the side made up of stars from the Don Revie era.

More than 30,000 supporters voted on the club's official website, and there was no place for Rio Ferdinand, Jonathan Woodgate, Lucas Radebe, Gordon Strachan or Harry Kewell.

The Greatest Leeds United XI:

1 Nigel Martyn
2 Paul Reaney
3 Norman Hunter,
5 Jack Charlton
6 Terry Cooper
7 Peter Lorimer
4 Billy Bremner
10 Johnny Giles
11 Eddie Gray
8 Allan Clarke
9 John Charles
