'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A good test in pre season is expected says Bates

Ken Bates yesterday admitted that Leeds will be greatly tested in this summers pre season friendlies. The Whites will play two games in Ireland and are also due to play three high profile games against Burnley,
Blackburn and Newcastle.

Ken Bates said yesterday in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post that 'It's the toughest pre-season I've seen in my four years here and I think we'll reap the benefits of that next season.'

Previously we have seen Leeds tour Germany and play against lower league teams but this is the first summer in a few years that Leeds fans will get to see their side compare against a few top quality sides.

Bates also couldn`t help being his old self when talking about Newcastle, continuing he said 'Our game at Newcastle (on July 29) should pull in a big crowd up there and I don't think either club will moan about their share of the proceeds"

As Leeds go forward into next season trying to forget about the McAllister and Wise era's maybe a tough pre season is the way to go but only time will tell.

Good old Bates...lol Should be a great test for the lads and it will be interesting to see how they fair against better quality sides

It's a double edged sword, we are getting some tough opposition but would we want to go into the season on the back of a bad pre season if we lose to these clubs?

i see your point. i think if pre season is good or bad we'll still go into the first couple of games knowing that weve got to get of to a flyer
