LUFC - Douglas and Lucas released

Leeds United have released Jonathan Douglas and David Lucas from their contracts when they expire on June 30th.

Midfielder Douglas joined the club in 2005 making over 150 appearances for the club during this time.

The Republic of Ireland international was club captain during the 2007/08 season and has been a regular first team player during his four years with the club.

Douglas was quick to thank the fans after his departure was announced, speaking on the official website he said "The fans have been great with me and I`d like to take this chance to thank them all for their support".

Keeper Lucas joined Leeds in 2007 and has struggled to hold down a regular first time place since his arrival.

The 31 year old made only 20 appearances for the club during his two seasons at Elland Road.
