LUFC - Beckford wins Golden Boot

Jermaine Beckford has won the Puma Golden Boot award for League One.

Beckford scored 34 goals in all competitions during the season.

League One was the only division in the Football League to boast a player scoring over thirty goals this season, remarkably four players achieved the feat with Simon Cox - Swindon Town 32, Matt Fryatt - Leicester City 32 and Gary Hooper - Scunthorpe United 30.

Tranmere Rovers keeper Danny Coyne won the Golden Glove award keeping 20 clean sheets during the season.

I think he also looks like winning the Golden Boot which Sky's Soccer Am do for the best game to goals ratio during the season.

The guys goals per game is outstanding. I wonder why there is such a scramble for Swindons Cox and no obvious activiy around Backs ????

Maybe Uncle Ken as made it plain NOT FOR SALE, we do not need the money unlike other clubs

Nor does Swindon need the money now, but how can you stiffle the desire to better themselves and if we can get the right price for him, we are left with covering a 30 goal player but that's the way it goes sometimes......Beckford is excellent but goes missing at crucial times, perhaps he's more comfortable at the moment in L1.

He would benefit from coaching on his first touch, but not at the expense of his goal scoring gift or pace! A day or two with a quality striker from the past might help him with holding up, laying off and the vital first touch when the ball is played through. There were a number of occasions against Millwall where a decent first touch would have seen him through on the goalkeeper.
