Ref Over The Coals

Coventry Telegraph:

Coventry City have been successful in taking action against referee Clive Oliver who has been criticised for allowing Leeds United manager Kevin Blackwell into his dressing room at half time during the game at the Ricoh Arena on March 18.

The Sky Blues complained about the Championship official to the Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) which selects referees for the Premiership and Football League, and Oliver has subsequently been warned.

City were fuming at the incident, which manager Micky Adams felt had a bearing on the second half, during which Leeds were awarded a late penalty to level the score at 1-1.

PGMO referees manager Jim Ashworth has assured Coventry that there are strict rules preventing managers or members of the coaching staff from visiting match officials less than 30 minutes after the final whistle.

Ashworth admitted Oliver's actions were 'naive and illconsidered' and he has been made aware that they were not only contrary to the agreement but that he had inflamed the situation.

The was bias in the first half to Coventry prompting the compliant, & it was a blatant penalty. Leeds were robbed off 3 points.
