LUFC - MEP wants Leeds crowned European Champions

Richard Corbett a Member of the European parliament has set up a petition to try and get the result of the 1973 European Cup winners cup final reversed.

Corbett Labour MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber hopes to pressurise UEFA with the petition to further look into Leeds defeat to AC Milan.

The petition regards Greek referee Christos Michas handling of the game, has well as sending off Norman Hunter he made a number of very controversial decisions against Leeds during the tie.

After a investigation by the Greek FA into allegations that Michas took a bribe he was consequently banned by them.

He was actually banned from ever officiating a European game again!

Mr Corbett has already written to all surviving members of the Leeds side to ask them to sign the petition.

Help Mr Corbett get justice for the players and staff of a fantastic team that played under Don Revie.

You can sign the petition at the following website www.richardcorbett,org,uk/leedsunitedpetition.htm

I urge not only Leeds fans but any fan of football that is fed up with all the corruption and match fixing allegations that 36 years on still hamper the game we all love.

I saw this game in full on ESPN Classics in the Netherlands last week. I've seen the highlights before and it is an utter disgrace. The referee was bribed, was proven to have been paid off and the result should have been overturned, never mind a replay. Even the Dutch commentator said ''Leedshhh were cheated. It'ssshhh a dishhhgrace!" The best time to appeal for this would have been a couple of years ago when Milan were penalised during the Italian bribery scandal. It may now be too late.

Incidentally, even without Bremner and Giles, it was one of the most dominating performances I've seen from any Leeds side. We hammered them and lost out due to excellent Italian defending and the bent officiating.
