I`ve just read an article about Johnny Howson in which he says
the team `was hurt by the songs the fans were singing, but they are
entitled to feel let down by the last few games.` He went on to say that
they`ve gone a way to putting things right with the home game against
Grayson has also said similar things in recent interviews.
I get the feeling that they are totally missing the point! The chants of
`We`re sh*t and we`re sick of it!` are not the result of a few poor
performances...its the result of a gradual slide of standards over the
last 5/6 years!
Leeds fans have endured seasons of half -hearted performances, of players
who just couldn`t care less, of chairmen with ulterior motives, of being
the butt of everybody's jokes.
Don`t get me wrong I`m grateful for the three points and the fight shown
by Johnny Howson to claim his place back in the side, but a win against
Cheltenham isn`t job done.....far from it!
It`s a start but I fear that having missed the point, the players may just
slip back into old ways again.
Prove me wrong, show me a new attitude a new fighting spirit....the fans
have had their say....but if you want them to stay loyal and put in the
effort every match day then the players have to do the same.
Marching on together......it`s the only way!
