LUFC - Grayson delighted with win

Simon Grayson was a happy man on Saturday evening after taking all three points against Cheltenham Town after two poor performances by his side in the last week.

Speaking on the ITV website Grayson said 'The players showed they could handle the pressure after those two defeats and we have given ourselves a chance to get into the play-offs."

Leeds beat Cheltenham Town 2-0 thanks to two second half goals from Jon Howson, although they actually had 22 attempts on goal, continuing Gryason said 'Their keeper was outstanding in the first half and on another day we could have won by a lot more goals."

It was great to see last seasons rising star Howson back to some of the form he showed last term with his two second half goals, Grayson was quick to recognise Howson`s contribution to the win when he said 'Jonny has done well since I have been here. He used his energy levels to make some excellent runs into their box without reward in the first half but kept going, didn't hide and took his goals well.'

Leeds are now right back in the promotion picture with them being only three points behind fourth place. The next two games could well se whether Leeds are really up for the fight to gain a play off place, next up is fourth place Scunthopre United at Elland Road on Saturday followed by a trip to fifth place Oldham Athletic on Monday night in front of the Sky TV cameras.

We seem to be able to manage wins at home ok, its on the road that the problems been all season, a massive weekend next week with Scunthorpe and Oldham in the space of three days.

Our away form was a problem last season aswell! If we can get 4 points out of the 2 games it would be a good result.. Beckford seems to shine in front of the Sky Sports cameras though so that could work in our favour....Unless he gets his 5th yellow card against Scunthorpe...

Playing away has been a real problem for the lads! Hopefully we can hit some really good form this weekend. We will need to seems how we have two games so close together.

Delighted with win? What`s all the crowing about? We struggled at home to only score twice against probably the worst defence in England. And also (laughably) had Casper Ankergren in danger of getting booked for time wasting at the end of the game? Were we that desperate to keep Cheltenham out? Thinking about it (and quite a few of the games this season) I fear for our chances for the rest of the season. Any bets that Scunthorpe will show us up for what we really are? We need a major clearout.

Delighted with three points however they come

delighted but we cant be dillusional.....The players need to realise the quality of the opposition and realise that they wont come up against a worse team this season...A nice win for our confidence but we are going to have to seriously bring our game up for the next 2 games if we want to consider ourselves promotion rivals... If this doesnt motivate the guys then I dont know what will...
Gromjo
Agreed. If we emerge from Oldham and Scunthorpe with at least 4 points, then call me a believer. Until then, I've seen too many false dawns this season: one week world beaters, next week pub team (hungover).
