LUFC - Harvey critical of Beckford decision

Leeds United chief executive Shaun Harvey was critical of the part played by the media after Jermaine Beckford pleaded guilty to his violent conduct charge.

Harvey is certain if the game had not been shown live on TV Beckford would not now be serving a three match ban, speaking on the official website Harvey said "We feel certain had the game not been shown live on Sky and not received a massive amount of publicity thereafter the caution issued by the referee would have been the end of the matter."

Harvey was also critical of the inconsistency showed by the FA regarding the matter after they originally said he couldn`t be charged only for them a few hours later change their minds, continuing he said "It`s the type of inconsistency in disciplinary matter that is confusing for clubs and fans."

Boss Simon Grayson was also critical when he echoed the thoughts of Harvey; he called for a change to refereeing and said that when a player is booked they should be told what they are being booked for so there is no confusion.

We should be used to being screwed over by the FA by now!

Maybe Harvey would have been better served getting in first and making sure everyone saw that the linesman never flagged for the push (only the altercation with Forde) and that Wiley indicated an elbow when booking Beckford. As usual we sat oin our hands and let the FA walk over us.
