LUFC - Oldham in pink for Leeds clash!

The Oldham Athletic v Leeds United clash on the 2nd of March that is scheduled to be live on sky now has an extra twist to it.

Oldham have decided to promote the Victoria Breast Unit at the Royal Oldham hospital by changing their strip for a once off occasion for the Leeds game from the usual all blue to pink.

The aim is to raise awareness for the hospital and to raise a total of
£250,000 for the hospital. The shirts that were played in will then be
auctioned off and the money raised will go to Link 4 Pink.

Team captain Sean Gregan speaking on Oldham`s official website said 'We are very happy to do whatever we can to help out what is a very good
cause.'

'We hope to help raise as much money as possible for Link 4 Pink - and to
be honest the shirt isn't as bad as I thought it would be.'

After Sheffield Wednesday`s great gesture yesterday of giving all their shirt sponsorship money to the local children`s hospital and now this from Oldham it`s great to see some football clubs giving a little back to the community.

Bristol Rovers did something similar a few years back as a April fools joke and they ended up keeping it because it was so popular with the fans!

I think in this day of finances ruling the football world it is a great gesture and also that of Sheff Wed to give away their shirt sponsorship to a local childrens hospital/hospice. We do masses of thi sort of work but our PR is crap....we are donating the prceeds of the Lucas Radebe night to cancer research but othe rthan the official site little has been said.
