LUFC - FA do u-turn regarding Beckford

The FA have now changed their minds after originally saying that Jermaine Beckford will face no further action for his elbow on Millwall keeper David Forde.

The FA originally came out this morning and said that Beckford could not face further action because the referee Alan Wiley had already dealt with the matter on the pitch by issuing Beckford with a yellow card.

They are now saying they are reviewing this after receiving fresh evidence in Wiley`s match report.

A FIFA ruling stipulates that no further action can be taken, so how can this suddenly change?

This does make you have to ask, Alan Wiley must only have changed his match report after seeing video evidence from the game? Surely this should not be allowed to happen now as it never as in the past?

Once again it seems that rules and laws don`t seem to count when it comes to punishing Leeds United!

As usual its one rule for Leeds United and one rule for the rest of the football world!!

Typical of the FA, lets hope he gets Bosingwa justice.

to be honest i was suprised when i heard he'd been let off! they shouldnt be allowed to change their minds though!

Agree there Dobbo

Total disgrace! Whether or not Beckford should have been sent off (and he should), as far as I'm aware we don't use video replay in this country. Well, now it's Papa Smurf's chance to use up his 100 free minutes with Vodafone this month and get on the FA's case!

i would say they though it fine until they realised Beckford played for Leeds and was our top scorer......Theyv found another way to screw us over.....Beckfords fault though for doing something so stupid....
Gromjo
I understand the rules are that referees file their match reports before they see any video evidence. This was not the case last night as we all know. I guess captain birdseye will make a big big fuss and if it doesnt work they cant let off the Ronaldos and Gerrards of this world in future
erni
I thought he would get a ban after last night and was surprised when there was 'no further action' earlier today. But, surely that should have been the end of it? Yes, I think it was deliberate albeit in the heat of the moment but once a decision was decided I think that should be it
herringthorpe
tbh i think its disgraceful if they change their mind, he should of been sent off but rules are rules, to bend them now sets another embarrassing precedent from the FA.

Didnt see the incident..An elbows an elbow, and if the ref saw it then the lads walking with a 3 match ban..Simple as..!

As for the changing of minds/reports etc...The fa stink..
80s terrier
Neither Ronaldo or Gerrard got yellows turned into reds when tv evidence showed they should have got a red....FA said that once ref has made the decision to give yellow that is it....why diffewrent now...difference is that Sky hounded Wiley to look at the tv evidence before he did his report and he has a chance to save his repution (already intatters over the reversal of Lampards red) by thinking of an excuse.
erni
No beckford and no dickinson for saturday then..!
80s terrier
It should have been a red, but as you look at the video evidence , Beckford uses his elbow right as Wiley looks at whether the corner has been taken or not. Beckford had intent written all over his face, even if it was one of our players i would accept that its not acceptable behaviour and thus deserves his 3 game ban.
Terrier24
He definetely deserves a ban...Im not too worried thouigh considering we have 3 strikers, probably 4.....Th f.a shouldnt be able to reverse their decision though.....that part is a disgrace...
Gromjo
Apparently the booking was for the shove on our defender Dunne, just before the elbow, and not the actual elbow, which was missed (because if it was seen it obviously would have been a red) so action can be taken retrospectively. Regards Wippa (Millwall)

From the BBC website...An FA statement said: "The FA has confirmed that Jermaine Beckford has been charged under FA Rule E3 (violent conduct) for an incident on the field of play which falls within Law 12 - not seen by the match officials but caught on video. "The FA has been advised by the match referee that Jermaine Beckford was cautioned for a pushing incident that occurred prior to the incident involving Millwall's David Forde."
Wippa
He got what he deserves, If he wanted to Fight he should take up Kung Fu. He's let the Fans down the team down & most of all himself down. He too good a player to resort to them tactics, scoring goals hurts the opposition more.
pete mc
Well said Pete, I think every Leeds fan who comes on here are saying he's getting what he deserved. If the ref had seen it that could have totally changed the outcome of the game with us down to ten men. The biggest thing is this is unpresedented that its never been done before and I don't believe for one minute that Wiley could have seen the push and not the elbow.
dazza71
Whatever, he's a nasty piece of work and deserves the ban thats coming his way. His interview after confirmed what a complete arrogant scum bag he is. I believe the ref missed the elbow, otherwise he definately would've walked at the time. Sky showed an angle that completely missed the elbow, maybe thats the one the ref saw.
Wippa
HA!!HA!!HA!!HA!! SHAME!!!
