'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Blackewell: 'Don't Rule Us Out'

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell is refusing to give up on the race for second place in the Championship despite a horror week at Elland Road.

The Whites have only taken one point from a possible six on home soil and Sheffield United's 3-0 win over Southampton means the Blades have opened up a six-point lead over Leeds and Watford in fourth and third respectively.

But Leeds have still to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on April 18, and with 18 points still up for grabs Blackwell is adamant no sense of resignation has crept in at Elland Road.

Blackwell: 'We talk about this six points (gap) but in football nothing is ever predictable.

'Certainly we have come out with a very good result when you look at Palace, Watford and Wolves around us. We have actually done quite well here against Stoke, but it does not feel like that.

'All we can do is keep going and make sure we stay focused on ourselves. We had more than enough to win both our last two games, but we did not win either and that's just football.

'The twists and turns are all there and that's what makes it so interesting. And with Sheffield United yet to play us, Palace and Cardiff, there are some interesting twists and turns (to come), believe you me.'
