LUFC - Grayson happy with transfer dealings

Simon Grayson was relatively happy after the transfer deadline day passed much quieter than most Leeds fans were hoping.

The first announcement of the day was that former Leeds defender Glynn Snodin had finally become part of Leeds United`s coaching staff.

On the player front American trialist Mike Grella signed till the end of next season and loan defender Richard Naylor signed on a two and a half year deal.

Speaking about Grella on the official website Grayson said "He has made a big impact in training, he`s showed quality, worked hard and he`s fitted in really well"

Going out of Elland Road are veteran defender Paul Telfer and young goalkeeper Jonathan Lund who both had their contracts terminated.

Probably the biggest news of the day for Leeds fans was holding onto highly rated midfielder Fabian Delph who had been linked with a lot of high money moves to Premiership clubs.

We already had Grella and Naylor at the club so theoretically we didn't really bring any new faces in, we also still have far to much deadwood at the club that are draining the resources on the squad wages.

if hes happy that must mean he has something lined up for next week in emergency loans as we will be light at the front when trundle goes back and we have no cover at RB. LB may become another lottery between three contenders

Dont any one want our dead wood or what, We'll givem ya?
pete mc
larry intimated people wanted them but they were happy to sit on their bums and do nothing rather than go on loan

It seems that players still think they can come and take the p**s at Leeds United and be on an easy meal ticket!!! Ken Bates will not stand for this and I am sure they will all be gone in the summer. I expect a huge rebuild once the season finishes. I am already preparing myself for another season in League One!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the galpharm..Watch out for Johnathan..!!!!

I think Grayson has done well already getting rid of the dead wood.....Macca didnt have the heart to do it but in fairness to Grayson he has done well in that sense...

"Biggest news for leeds fans today was keeping hold of fabian delph"..Come on 71 you cant say you kept hold of him when there werent any bids..I think its more a case of the biggest bidding war that never was..I know what you all think of the lad,and thats fair enough,in that respect im pleased for you too,but come on lets be honest about this nobody else wanted him,no matter how hard smurf tried to drum up interest and start the bidding,it just didnt happen..!
80s terrier
Partly true.....still a brilliant player though!
Gromjo
Two bids of 6 million reportedly turned down, a silly bid by Fulham of 2.5 million turned down. Plus whatever else went on behind the scenes. I have to agree in one respect though that Bates was trying his hardest to push the price up.
dazza71
"Its history" now as they say.. So do you all think dennis pennis has done enough in the transfer market to push for the play offs or is it hit and hope from now on..?..!
80s terrier
Its certainly worrying. Dazza is spot on we have way too much dead wood.

Dead wood will hamper future transfer deals..GET RID QUICK..
80s terrier
let's hope we lose some of the dead wood when the emergency loan period starts on Feb 9th...
